Read the full description

A medium-sized farm based on dairy production, with grass grown on its own cultivated land. The cowshed is set up for milk production with tie-stalls for dairy cows and some youngstock. Additional milk quota and land are leased from other holdings: the farm's own quota is stated as approx. 85 tonnes, with a further 85 tonnes leased under three agreements. There are 91.1 decares (daa) of cultivated land and 492.4 daa of productive forest. The main farm lies in Aulstadgrend in Vestre Gausdal, just north of Aulstad church, and the buildings comprise a farmhouse, a cowshed with milk room, an implement shed with garage, a stabbur (traditional storehouse) and more, plus a summer farm (seter) on Viknekjølen.

Crown Prince Gustaf stayed at Mo when he joined a bear hunt on Viknekjølen in 1902 – an extra-long bed had to be hastily built for the tall royal guest, and at his own request he was served rakfisk (fermented trout) on the evening of 6 February after a successful hunt. Mo once housed a bakery, guesthouse, shop and post office, as well as the first telephone exchange between Veisten in Forsetgrenda and Leirvollen in Svatsum – a private line for Hamar Telefonforening.

Segalstad bru is approx. 18 km away and Lillehammer approx. 38 km. The main farm sits in an open position just north of Aulstad church, with nursery and primary school approx. 12 km away. Groomed ski trails are a short drive away at Gammelsetra in Olstad, with easy access over the ridge to Skei, and at Synstgard seter towards Gausdal Vestfjell. The farmyard is level and easily reached, with an open, south-facing aspect. The summer farm is approx. 10 km away, and Forset centre in Vestre Gausdal – with shop, post office, petrol station, school and nursery – approx. 12 km.

Farmhouse (approx. 185 m² footprint), originally dating from 1877/1894 and restored in 1975. The house has two units, the upper part facing the main road being a granny flat with its own entrance. Ground floor (approx. 170 m²): porch, stairwell, two kitchens, two sitting rooms, WC, passage, utility room and bedroom. First floor (approx. 170 m²): three bedrooms, two sitting rooms, landing, bathroom and stairs. Second floor (approx. 70 m²): four finished rooms and four box rooms from its guesthouse days. Cellar with storerooms and an unfinished room. Wood-burning stoves in the kitchen and sitting rooms, and a new heat pump fitted in 2024.

Cowshed/barn (approx. 280 + 190 m² footprint), built in 1969 and extended in 1985, with a milk room added in 2004. It has 28 tie-stalls for dairy cows and 10–15 places for yearlings and calves. Equipment includes a self-propelled feed trolley from 2000, a pipeline milking system, new extractor fans (2024), an upgraded electrical installation and a new fire alarm system (2022). A calf section in the barn takes 20–30 calves, and a new 14-tonne feed silo was installed in 2024. Slurry tank from 2022 with a capacity of approx. 1,000 m³.

Other buildings in the farmyard: a log-built outhouse with slate roof, an implement shed/garage from 1970, a barn/implement shed used for equipment, and a dilapidated log building in the field. The farm also has shares in joint irrigation systems.

Summer farm on Viknekjølen: a seter house from around 1850–1855 (114 m² gross) with passage, storeroom and living room with open fireplace, a winter cabin, an outhouse/barn used for hunting, and a new outdoor privy. The seter is approx. 10 km away via a shared private access road.

Land: The property is partly fenced, with the cultivated land around the farmyard and a few hundred metres south of the main farm. The soil is of good quality – easy to work and normally giving good, reliable yields. Cultivated land: 91.1 daa plus leased land. Surface-cultivated land: 7.3 daa. Pasture: 18.9 daa. The land is used for grass production and farmed in-house for dairy.

The forest ranges from 380 to 820 metres above sea level and is predominantly of low and medium site quality, part of it lying on Viknekjølen and on the far side of Aulstadgrenda. High site quality: 22.7 daa. Medium: 164.5 daa. Low: 305.2 daa. Approx. 500 m³ was felled in 2022. Parts of the forest lie within the protection-forest boundary.

The property is a member of Olstad hunting association with 14 of 1,000 shares, and holds 2 of 136 shares in Viknekjølen game association.

Driving times: Segalstad approx. 15 min, Lillehammer approx. 35 min, Skeikampen approx. 30 min, Hamar approx. 1 hr 20 min, Oslo approx. 2 hrs 50 min.
