Lilleengen lies in Sørskogbygda, a village about 20 minutes east of Elverum on the road to Trysil. It is a large agricultural estate with substantial production, extending to 3,100 decares (daa) in total, including 285 daa of fully cultivated land, 23.9 daa of infield pasture and 2,386 daa of productive forest.
The farm holds its own milk quota of 286 tonnes, and the cowshed combines an older byre with a loose-housing barn and milking robot. From the property and farmyard there are lovely views across the surrounding landscape, with walking right on the doorstep in every season.
Lilleengen lies in Sørskogbygda, a village about 20 minutes east of Elverum on the road to Trysil. It is a large agricultural estate with substantial production, extending to 3,100 decares (daa) in total. The farm has 308.9 daa of agricultural land, made up of 285 daa fully cultivated and 23.9 daa of infield pasture; both the pasture and some of the fields adjoin the farmyard. The productive forest covers 2,386 daa, with approx. 5,000 m³ standing in age class 5 (mature forest). The farm holds its own milk quota of 286 tonnes, plus a leased quota of 30 tonnes. The cowshed combines an older byre with a loose-housing barn featuring a milking robot and a partly automated feeding system.
Over the last two generations the estate has been enlarged by acquiring neighbouring properties and now has a considerable resource base. The buildings are extensive and well maintained, including 2 homes, several farm buildings and holiday cabins. The forest at Lilleengen is well managed, with an annual growth capacity of almost 1,000 m³, a good spread of age classes and a significant volume of mature timber. The cultivated land yields good harvests.
The architect-designed farmhouse was built in 1994. It is large and versatile with plenty of room for a big family, and is well maintained inside and out. Among other things it has 4 bedrooms and several living rooms. The living room boasts a fireplace and fantastic views, and opens straight onto a large, inviting terrace – the perfect place to enjoy the peace, the view and the countryside surrounding Lilleengen.
Installations: Barn hay dryer with hay distributor. Grass silo with a capacity of 600 m³, discharging into a reservoir with distribution via feed conveyor. 2 concentrate silos (14 and 6 tonnes). Lely A5 milking robot. 3,000-litre milk tank. Solar panel system producing 30,000 kWh/year.
Farmyard The farmyard and buildings sit in an open, elevated position set back from Sørskogbygdvegen, approached along a fine birch avenue. The yard is well tended and spacious, with large lawns and outdoor areas. The farmhouse stands at the edge of the yard, undisturbed by the farming activity. From its high position there are lovely views across the surrounding landscape.
Farmland The agricultural land lies in several parcels, the furthest approx. 2.8 km from the farmyard, laid out for efficient modern farming. The cultivated land is used for grass for the farm's own milk and beef production. It has been fertilised with farmyard manure for many years and gives good, reliable grass yields, with average annual yields assessed at 600 feed units (FEm) per daa. Drainage and lime status are both good.
Forest The forest is spread across several parcels, with layout and terrain well suited to mechanised final felling. The productive forest area is 2,386.2 daa, with good access and landing sites. Silviculture has been carried out continuously, including pre-commercial thinning, spacing and replanting. Annual growth capacity is 919.3 m³ (including additional land), and the total standing volume is 21,711 m³.
Hunting on the property's outlying land is managed by Sørskogbygda's hunting, fishing and landowners' association. The estate also includes a summer farm (seter), a hunting lodge and a forest cabin.
Lilleengen enjoys a scenic position on a south-facing slope with good views over the surrounding area. Sørskogbygda and Kynnberget have a lively local community with a strong spirit of volunteering and togetherness, including a shop open on Sundays, a gym, a village hall, a primary school and an outdoor nursery. It is just under 20 minutes by car to Elverum town centre.
The history of Lilleengen In 1809 Lilleengen was partitioned off from the main farm Kynnberget Store, with the formal division registered in 1825. The seller's great-grandfather bought the farm in 1880, and it has passed down through the family ever since. The oldest building today is a stabbur (traditional storehouse) from 1880; the summer farm building dates from 1916, and the present farmhouse was architect-designed and built by Horten hus in 1993/94.
